The mean or harmful things that American President Donald Trump has said

United States President Donald Trump caused many people to protest after he made a funny comment about the name "Mohammad" during a speech for the elections. He was making fun of Iran's leaders. Trump said, "If you're not sure about someone's name from the Middle East, just say 'Mohammad,'" when he was speaking in Dalton, Georgia, on October 16.

You have about a 65% chance. "Hello, Mohammad." I’ve been doing this for years now. I’ve never been wrong," he said. Trump talked about Iran. "Iran is the only country where no one wants to be president," he said.

He jokingly asked a few people named Mohammad if they wanted the job, but the people listening to Trump's speech didn't laugh or say anything. Human rights groups and Muslim groups have often criticized Trump because he says things that hurt Muslims, immigrants, and different ethnic groups.

People started saying more mean things during the midterm elections, especially about Somali Americans and Muslim Americans. This included a Democrat running for Senate named Abdul El-Sayed and Ilhan Omar from Minnesota, who came to the U.S. as a refugee from Somalia. Trump is known for saying things that make people more divided and for spreading mean stories about others on social media.

A report from the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) released earlier this year says that more people in the U.S. are afraid of Muslims (called Islamophobia), and one reason is because Trump took a strict approach to immigration.
