Smoking is a harmful habit that negatively impacts our lives

Posted By: Aa channel media - Desember 12, 2025

Greetings and good morning to all present here today. I extend my heartfelt respect to the esteemed judges, teachers, seniors, and dear friends gathered in this auspicious moment. Let us express our gratitude to the divine for guiding us to this point in our journey. Allow me to introduce myself - my name is... and I am honored to be in your midst.

My dear mentors and companions, I am here today to present a speech on smoking titled, "The Detrimental Effects of Smoking in Our Lives." Let us delve into the negative impacts of this harmful habit and explore ways to overcome it.

My dear companions,
It is no secret that smoking is ingrained in the daily routines of a large portion of Indonesian society. Despite being well-aware of its risks, many smokers continue to indulge in this harmful habit. As the younger generation, it is imperative that we recognize and condemn smoking as a detrimental behavior. Smoking is deemed unfavorable due to three crucial factors: the presence of toxic substances, the propensity to cause diseases such as cancer, and its costly nature. Let us take a stand against this harmful practice and strive for a healthier lifestyle.

My esteemed teacher and friends, let's discuss the detrimental effects of smoking, which is primarily driven by the harmful habit of consuming poisonous substances. It is imperative that we refrain from smoking as it poses a serious threat to our health. It is common knowledge that cigarette smoke contains numerous hazardous substances, with nicotine being a prime example. This toxic substance is known to contribute to the development of various illnesses. Moreover, not only does smoking pose a danger to the smoker, but it also endangers those around them. Therefore, if you find yourself in the vicinity of a smoker, kindly request them to extinguish their cigarette temporarily. Let us all strive to create a healthier environment for ourselves and those around us.

Dear Friend,

Let's delve into the second point I want to address - the detrimental effects of smoking on our health. Smoking has been linked to a multitude of diseases such as cancer, pregnancy complications, fetal abnormalities, and more. Shockingly, many Indonesian individuals have lost their lives due to smoking, with a significant number of them being students. The fact that so many young lives have been cut short due to smoking and drug use is truly disheartening. It is distressing to see members of the younger generation succumb to such harmful habits. Furthermore, smoking not only impacts physical health but also has negative behavioral effects on smokers. The repercussions of smoking are vast and far-reaching.

Let's strive for a healthier, smoke-free future.

Warm regards.

My dear teacher and friends, have you ever stopped to think about how expensive cigarettes are these days? A single pack can cost anywhere from 7,000 to 10,000 rupiah, or even more. Just imagine the amount of money a student or smoker spends on buying a pack of cigarettes every day, and then tallying up the total for each week, month, and year.

For example, if a pack costs 8,000 rupiah, that's 56,000 rupiah spent in a week, 240,000 rupiah in a month, and a whopping 2,880,000 rupiah in a year. And that's just for one pack a day. If someone smokes 2, 3, or even 4 packs a day, the amount spent adds up quickly.

All this money spent on smoking can lead to financial difficulties for families and students may find themselves unable to use their pocket money for school. It's a costly habit that can have serious consequences.

Smoking is not a beneficial habit for the youth of today. Instead of picking up a cigarette, let's focus on hitting the books and striving to be the top students in our country and school. Let's make a pledge to prioritize studying over smoking, and work towards becoming the best version of ourselves. That's all for now, thank you for your attention.

Here is an example of a speech in English. It is important to understand the use of the word "the." "The" is commonly used when referring to objects, regions, and extraordinary things.
